      What exactly is an SCI?

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) is a planning document that sets out how Local Planning Authorities engage with key stakeholders and local communities on planning related matters. This includes both the production of plan-making documents and planning applications. An SCI is required by law (as per the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (2004) (as amended)) and should be reviewed at least once every five years (as per The Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012).
